Following a 13-year career as goalkeeper for the women's U.S. Deaf national soccer team and winning three
gold medals, Meghan Maiwald enrolled in Ball State's online master's program in athletic coaching education
so she could coach her favorite sport.
Today, she is an assistant women's soccer coach at Gallaudet University, the world's only university for
Deaf and hard of hearing, and coaches girls' soccer at a secondary school for the Deaf, also on Gallaudet's
campus. "It's a dream come true!" she says.
"I am able to be a role model and mentor to those young Deaf and hard of hearing women with my playing
background, education, and simply being a well-rounded coach," says Meghan.
